Struggling with the Pre-Learners Course?

You might be finding the pre-learner's course a bit of a struggle. Perhaps you have not had any riding experience at all, or have no experience with a manual car and to top it off you are with a group of people who have all ridden before and they are taking off way faster than you and you are left behind, feeling bad and getting frustrated about how to figure out this whole clutch thing. DEEP BREATH IN

If that is you, it can be stressing but remember “Just relax” because there are ways that even if you have zero experience, you can still do well on the pre-learner course.

“Just relax” (that is going to be the magic formula for most things)

Know your experience

Apart from someone who has already ridden a motorcycle before. There are 3 types of previous experience that help with learning to ride a motorcycle. If you have some, it will certainly will help.

1 – You can drive a manual car.

2 –Bicycle experience. If you can ride a bicycle you will be good at picking up the balancing part of things and perhaps even some general steering habits to keep the bike in a straight line without thinking.

3 – (really point 2a) This applies more to when you get on the road but the ultimate experience level is having done professional level cycling at a decent speed on the road. This means you are familiar with being on the road but in a different way (especially if, like most people, you have been driving a car your whole life)

4 - (really 3) - Horse riding. Yeah not joking. Horse riding. and the answer is "NO" to the question : "Do i have to go horse riding first??" But if you have its great.

NOW, if you are here and realised you have none of these experiences, don’t freak out.... 'just relax'. You can still do well. Don’t expect to be like others and don’t get frustrated when you are not. Just relax and read below.

You may be reading this before your pre-learners or you are reading this after having done Day 1 wishing you read it beforehand. Perhaps you are in a remedial session and in which case reading this will definitely help. IF you are still stuck get in touch with us and we can try and organise a short practical session for you.
