Most riders will do the skills as part of what is called the 'pre-provisional course'. This is an all day, 8 hr session, that will cover many aspects of riding, contains classroom sessions, an assessable road ride and the skills test. Upgrading from a NSW Learner Licence to a provisional (P1) licence? The pre-provisional course is what you need. This is the path most riders will travel.
If you have failed the test, (maybe because you didnt know about this site) and you have already completed the pre-provisional course succesfully, then you only to re-book the skills test.
If you are converting your current, non-expired international licence, then you also need to book only the skills test option (excepting if your country is exempted). Those converting your licence are advised to speak to RMS staff directly to confirm as you will need to undertake a knowledge test prior to taking the practical skills test. *This may vary.
Interested in getting your learner's rider licence. Find out what you need to do. It is not as difficult as you think
If you are currently taking your pre-learner course and are finding it difficultm we have some tips for you that might make it a little easier.
Well i have passed the M.O.S.T. What do i do now?
After going down and getting your licence upgraded, just get some more riding time, gradually getting more experience at higher speeds and cornering. From there if you have the chance, i recommend doing some advanced training where you can really practise without any traffic or narrow roads. YES, the track.
And it is good to start with a training providor like California Superbike School. Here you would start at Level 1 which includes a gradual introduction to track riding, utilising the whole circuit of Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP) along with practical sesions, several track outings and class sessions to prepare for them. They also have coaches assigned to observe and provide you with feedback.
In the past to ride a trike, such as a Can-am Spyder, you needed to obtain a motorcycle licence for 2 wheelers. Now it is possible to have a trike specific licence which allows you to ride a trike without having to go and learn how to ride a motorcycle. It is still a rider's licence with a condition that states you can only ride 3 wheel trikes.
There is still a pre-learner course involved, and currently it involves you taking your own trike to a training centre, either trailered or ridden by someone else.
Trikes in discussion here are defined as 3-wheeled motorcycles that have two wheels at the front which have a wide front track, Trikes, under this definition do not include those scooters with two front wheels that are very narrow (aka a narrow front wheel track)

Well if one test was not enough, why not take a test about the test.
Not to double up but it can still be good fun to see if you know answers to questions which even though will most likely be useless to you after you are done with the actual skills test, you still want to see if you know it.
But you are tempted aren't you?
Warning: FUN, but be careful not to brag.
